[Today’s K-pop] Stray Kids to meet fans in Seoul next month

Stray Kids will host a fan meetup in Seoul on March 29-31, announced label JYP Entertainment on Tuesday.

The eight-member act’s fourth official fan meet is named “Magic School,” and the last day’s show will be broadcast online as well. It take place about nine months since the group's previous fan meeting.

Meanwhile, the band is shortlisted for “Group/Duo of the Year” by the People’s Choice Awards that will be announced on Feb. 18 in the US. It also is a nominee for “K-pop Artist of the Year” by the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards as is its hit song “S-Class” for “K-pop Song of the Year.” The awards ceremony will be held on April 1.

“S-Class” is the lead single from Stray Kids' third studio album “5-Star” that came out in June last year and landed at the top of the Billboard 200.

Ateez logs 100m views with ‘Crazy Form’ music video

The music video for Ateez’s “Crazy From” surpassed 100 million views on YouTube, said agency KQ Entertainment on Tuesday.

It is the band’s third video to reach the milestone, after “Wonderland” and “Bouncy,” the main tracks from its first full album “Treasure Ep. Fin: Al To Action” and ninth EP “The World Ep. 2: Outlaw,” respectively.

“Crazy Form” fronted the group's second full-length album “The World Ep. Fin: Will” that debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 and notched the No. 2 spot on the UK’s Official albums chart. The music video garnered 10 million views in seven hours and hit 100 million in about two months, both records for the eight-piece team.

Separately, Ateez will bring out its third single in Japan “Not Okay” on Feb. 28.

Blackpink’s Lisa to debut in HBO drama: report

Lisa of Blackpink will debut as an actor on the HBO drama “The White Lotus,” according to American publication Variety.

The magazine wrote Monday that Lisa will appear in the third season of the hit series that is set in five-star hotels in Thailand, her native country. She has joined the cast under her given name, Lalisa Manobal, and her role is being kept under wraps, said the article, adding that the new season will follow a new group of guests at the report property.

There have been reports since last month that Lisa was cast in the second season of AMC drama “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon” but the artist has kept mum.

The idol announced last week that she is setting up her own label, Lloud.

BTS’ V tops 400m Spotify streams with ‘Love Me Again’

V of BTS received 400 million plays on Spotify with his solo single “Love Me Again” as of Saturday, according to the platform.

It is the pre-release from his solo album “Layover” that was rolled out in September last year and achieved the feat in 183 days, a new record for a B-side track from a K-pop musician.

“Love Me Again” made Billboard’s Hot 100 at No. 96, his second solo entry on the main songs chart. The LP hit the Billboard 200 at No. 2 and stayed on the chart for eight weeks, a record for a K-pop solo act at the time. It was No. 2 of the “25 Best K-Pop Albums of 2023” listed by the publication.
