Hanjin Logistics Corp., an affiliate of the nation’s airline-to-logistics conglomerate Hanjin Group, said Monday it has hired two global specialists as part of efforts to enhance its presence in overseas markets, especially the US and China.

Rone Jeong, a China specialist, joined Hanjin in December and will be tasked with ramping up the shipper’s presence in Asia by connecting with more air and ocean shipping clients, as well as cross-border sellers based in China.

Jeong earned an MBA degree at Nankai University in Tianjin, China, and then worked at major logistics firms handling China issues and managing global networks.

When it comes to the US and European markets, Hanjin appointed Chang Ki-ho, an industry veteran with 34 years of experience in the field of air freight, to accelerate securing new partners and clients in the key regions.

“Given overseas business accounts for about 15 percent of Hanjin’s total revenue, the two global specialists are expected to contribute to opening up future business opportunities,” Hanjin said in a statement.

Hanjin aims to expand its global network to 22 countries and 42 branches this year. The recovering trend of cross-border purchases from China, in particular, are leading to significant improvement in the performance and profits of local E-commerce firms.

"In the rapidly changing market environment, the company seeks to strengthen its worldwide operations by bringing in experts with a global perspective," the company said.
