[Today’s K-pop] Twice to return in February

Twice will release the group's 13th EP on Feb. 23, JYP Entertainment announced Wednesday.

The nine-member act floated a teaser trailer for the EP, titled “With YOU-th,” adding that it will unveil side track “I Got You” on Feb. 2, in advance to the full release. The mini album comes about a year after the 12th EP, “Ready To Be,” which hit the Billboard 200 at No. 2 and stayed on the main albums chart for nine weeks in a row, a record streak for the group.

Meanwhile, the nonet will perform at more stadiums across the world, resuming the group's international tour next month. The girl group is set to perform in Mexico City and Sao Paulo in February and Las Vegas in March, and will later head to Osaka and Kanagawa prefecture in Japan in July.

 

Sistar subunit comes back after 11-year hiatus

Sistar19, a subunit of Sistar, is gearing up for a return 11 years in the making, according to Starship Entertainment on Wednesday.

Hyolyn and Bora formed the duo in 2011 and dropped the single “Ma Boy,” followed by “Gone Not Around Any More” in 2013. The upcoming single is titled “No More (Ma Boy)” hinting that the duo will build on the concept of their debut single. The new single is to be released Jan. 16.

Sistar disbanded in 2017, and Hyolyn and Bora have both been pursuing careers as solo artists since. Hyolyn is a solo singer and producer and recently held a concert in December, in which Bora and Dasom came to celebrate her birthday alongside fans. Bora branched out into acting, appearing in a series of TV dramas, and also featured as a rapper for former bandmate Soyoo’s second solo EP, “Summer Recipe,” inm July last year.

 

AB6IX to bring out 8th EP

AB6IX will drop the group's eighth EP on Jan. 22, agency Brand New Music said Wednesday.

A teaser poster for the EP, titled “The Future Is Ours: Found,” was uploaded the same day, showing the four bandmates walking away from a car in flames with the trunk open, full of flowers.

As the album title indicates, it comes in line with the band’s previous album, “The Future Is Ours: Lost,” which came out in May last year. Focus track “Loser” earned a trophy from a TV music chart show for the group for the first time in three years.

After the release of the last album, the bandmates launched a tour starting in Seoul. They visited Japan, Thailand and Macao before flying over to the US and Canada, wrapping up the tour in November.

 

Kep1er marks 2nd anniversary

Girl group Kep1er celebrated two years since debuting with a series of events, WakeOne/Swing Entertainment said Wednesday.

The nine bandmates posed for the camera, each holding a balloon to spell out “2ND Kep1er” in a photograph. A pop-up store in Seoul opened on the day as well to let fans look back over the two years with a photo exhibition and win special gifts until the next day.

The group consist of nine finalists from "Girls Planet 999: The Girls Saga” and debuted in January 2022 with the EP “First Impact.” The group's latest album is fifth EP “Magic Hour,” which topped iTunes top albums chart in six regions in September.

The group has released three single albums in Japan as well, and all three were certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of Japan for 100,000 shipments.
