Forgers of foreign luxury brands caught in Busan

Two people have been arrested for selling no-brand garments as foreign luxury brand clothes by replacing their labels.

Busan Dongbu Police Station said Sunday that it has booked the two in their 40s without detention on the charge of infringement of Trademark Act and fraud.

The suspects are accused of selling hundreds of items of clothing worth just tens of thousands of won as big-name brand clothing worth up to millions of won apiece since 2004.

They have reportedly changed the labels to high fashion clothing brands’ and told consumers that they were the same products as those in department stores.

The total sales of the fake goods mounted to 410 million won ($383,000), according to police.

Police have gotten confession from the suspects.
