Gyeonggi Province Gov. Nam Kyung-pil’s eldest son was arrested on suspicion of taking methamphetamine Sunday.

Nam told police that he purchased a total of 4 grams of methamphetamine from China on Wednesday and hid the drug in his underwear when coming back to Korea on Friday.

Police is set to consider seeking an arrest warrant for Nam.

In 2014, a military court convicted and sentenced Nam to eight months in prison and two years of probation, after he was indicted on charges of assaulting a low-ranked soldier while serving his mandatory military service.
