Gwangju International Center will hold its annual celebration of the city’s multicultural side this weekend.

Gwangju International Community Day is a two-day event opening Saturday at the GIC building Dong-gu, followed by an outdoor celebration Sunday at the ACC Democracy Plaza.

A talent show will take place across the two days, with the first round at the GIC building and the second on the outdoor stage.

There will also be a concert on the first day featuring music from Korea and abroad and a flea market.

At the outdoor fair Sunday, there will be food booths offering traditional food from 12 countries including Rwanda and Pakistan, and cultural experiences from countries such as the Philippines, China and Vietnam.

Other booths will introduce local clubs and communities, as well as sell flea market goods.

The GIC Day runs 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

The GIC is also running a cultural tour to Changpyeong, as part of the “slow city” movement that encourages sustainable and less stressful lifestyles, and Damyang, which is famous for its bamboo.

The tour runs on Oct. 29 and activities include traditional dyeing.
