세계적으로 K-pop의 위상이 높아지고 한국 아이돌 그룹의 패션이 해외에서 각광을 받자, 관련 메이크업 아티스트들이 주목 받고 있다. 대표적인 예가 바로 정샘물 메이크업 아티스트.
최근 JYP는 3월 컴백한 미쓰에이의 메이크업을 정샘물 아티스트에 맡긴 데 이어, 8월 밴드로 돌아온 원더걸스의 메이크업도 그녀에게 잇따라 맡겼다.
이로 인해 그동안 눈에 잘 띄지 않았던 혜림은 큰 수혜자가 되었다. 다이어트에 성공해 볼살이 쏙 빠진 그녀는 강한 음영 메이크업으로 뷰티 블로거들의 관심을 한몸에 받기도 했다.
뷰티 전문가들에 따르면 아이돌 가수들이 새로운 뮤직 비디오를 출시할 때마다 사용한 화장품과 패션이 한국뿐 아니라 중국과 미국에서도 관심을 받기 시작했다.
정샘물 아티스트는 아이돌 가수뿐인 아닌 김태희, 전지현과 송혜교를 비롯한 유명 연예인과 함께 일한 경력으로 이미 유명세를 떨치고 있다.
특히, 정샘물의 메이크업을 받은 후 국내에서 눈에 띄게 인기를 모으고 있는 중국 영화배우 탕웨이도 영화 ‘만추’ 이후부터 지금까지 그녀의 도움을 받고 있다.
정샘물은 최근 언론에서 그녀의 뷰티 비법에 대해서 “고유의 색과 선을 인위적으로 바꾸지 않고 유지하려는 것”이라고 전했다.

Makeup artist Jung Saem-mool is witnessing a surge in her profile as Korean K-pop stars rush to adopt her refined beauty tips and techniques.
JYP Entertainment, one of the three largest labels in South Korea, recently hired Jung for a new music video of its girl group Wonder Girls, which returned as a band last month. Earlier in March, Jung also worked for another K-pop girl group Miss A when they dropped a new album.

Industry watchers said makeup worn by K-pop singers in their new music videos play a key role in catching viewers’ eyes and also helping them become beauty trendsetters.
In effect, fashion and beauty styles of hit singers such as Girls’ Generation and Wonder Girls are frequently creating a buzz overseas including in China and North America.
Jung’s makeup is not only limited to idol singers. She has also worked for hit actresses such as Jun Ji-hyun, Song Hye-kyo and Kim Tae-hee.
Chinese actress Tang Wei is also one of them. While she was shooting an English-language film “Late Autumn” here in 2010, she retained her own makeup team at first. However, after receiving some negative reviews about her makeup from local entertainment media outlets, she tried Jung’s beauty team when attending Paeksang Arts Awards, an entertainment awards ceremony held in Korea.
Since her new makeup style received good reviews from beauty experts and entertainment media outlets both in Korea and China, Tang Wei has continued to partner with Jung.
Jung was quoted as saying by a local media outlet, “I try to retain a person’s original color and line instead of artificially changing it.”
“If a person looks pretty with her dark skin, I try to retain her natural look instead of artificially brightening her face,” she added.
