Daegu’s Time to Give, a volunteering association run by expats in the city, is running “Daegu’s Time to Date,” a speed-dating event to raise money for gifts for underprivileged children.

Prospective romantics will be given a scorecard and two minutes per partner to win them over with wit, charm or just old-fashioned good looks.

A spot prize will be given to the person with the best ― or worst ― pickup line.

"The night is always a lot of fun and generates awareness for the expats who are newer to the city," said Rosamund Feeney of Daegu's Time to Give. "All of the money raised goes directly to the organization and comes in time for Christmas, allowing us to buy presents for more children."

The cost of participation is 10,000 won, with all proceeds going to the association’s give-a-gift campaign, which provides toys for local disadvantaged children.

The event starts at 7 p.m. at MF Bar in downtown Daegu on Nov. 15. To join, email daegustimetogive@gmail.com confirming that you would like to attend and including your name and telephone number.
