Cho Seok tapped as second vice minister of knowledge economy

Korea Industrial Complex Corp. President Cho Seok was tapped as the second vice minister of knowledge economy in a small-scale reshuffle, Cheong Wa Dae said Monday.

The presidential office said that Cho, 54, is fit for the job given his leadership and expertise in energy and resources.

Small & Medium Business Corp. President Song Jong-ho was named to lead the Small & Medium Business Administration. Song, 53, was chosen in consideration of his specialty in promoting business activities for SMEs.

Park Yeon-yong, 70, a former naval logistics commander, was tapped as the governor of Hwanghae Province, North Korea. Hwang Deok-ho, 67, an auditor from the mobile consulting firm I & Interactive, was named governor of South Hamgyeong Province, also in North Korea.

The South Korean government appoints honorary governors for five areas in North Korea in preparation for reunification. Officials cited the two men’s activities to promote cooperation among residents in the respective provinces.
