42dot, the software mobility unit under Hyundai Motor Group, clinched a deal with Samsung Electronics to develop an artificial intelligence-based software-defined vehicle platform on the sidelines of the CES 2024 tech show in Las Vegas on Tuesday.

Song Chang-hyeon, who doubles as 42dot CEO and president of the software-defined vehicle unit at Hyundai Motor Group, and Park Yong-in, president of the system large-scale integration division at Samsung Electronics, participated in a signing ceremony earlier in the day.

42dot will use Samsung’s latest premium automotive processor, called Exynos Auto, and develop a platform for SDVs that manage operations primarily through software. The chip giant plans to supply the Exynos development platform, powered by system-on-chip -- an integrated circuit design that combines most of the elements of an electronic device onto a single chip.

The joint software platform is slated for development by 2025. The two companies will work on making a reference platform and on marketing once the service is launched.

During the tech exhibition that runs through Saturday, 42dot and Samsung will showcase the SDV platform concept.

“Joining hands with Samsung Electronics, the company will offer a series of scalable services for users to enjoy a safe driving experience, even if they have little understanding about the technology,” said Song in a statement.

The Exynos Automotive Processor combines a cutting-edge central processing unit and a graphics processing unit. It offers real-time driving data and high-resolution map and video streaming services for drivers.
