[THE INVESTOR] The number of Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy Note 7 users who have exchanged their Note 7 handset for a new Note 7 has reportedly crossed 100,000 in Korea since the beginning of the firm’s recall program on Sept. 19.

Around 20,000 to 30,000 have visited mobile stores run by mobile carriers or the tech giant to get a new Note 7, according to the news reports.

The number of people who canceled their mobile subscription for the Note 7 stands at 18,000, accounting for 4.5 percent of the entire Note 7 subscribers. 




After a series of combustion and explosion cases due to the defective battery of the handset in and out of Korea, the tech giant apologized and pledged to run the replacement program to exchange the problematic Note 7 with a new product.

Samsung aims to exchange a total of 400,000 Note 7 units by Sept. 25 and to resume the sale of the smartphone on Sept. 28.

Those who have not received their preordered Note 7 are expected to receive the handset from Sept. 26.
