Samsung Securities to support iris authentication for banking services

[THE INVESTOR] Samsung Securities, one of Samsung Group’s financial business units, said on Aug. 26 that it would adopt a stock trading system next month that would allow users to authenticate themselves with the iris scanner fitted in Samsung Electronics ’ Galaxy Note 7.
A Samsung Securities official said, “The identification through the Note 7’s iris scanner, along with the public digital authentication certificate, will be available on Samsung Securities’ mobile trading system.”
Other stock trading firms, including Kiwoom Securities, are also preparing to roll out stock trading systems utilizing the iris scanning technology.
Partnering with Samsung Electronics, some banks, including Shinhan Bank, already allow Galaxy Note 7 users to verify themselves for banking services.
