[THE INVESTOR] Hyosung Corp. on June 16 said that the company showcased light-weight bullet resistant helmet produced with the trademarked ALKEX material at the Eurosatory 2016.
Eurosatory is a military and security industry show held every two years in Paris.
ALKEX is an aramid fiber developed by Hyosung. Aramid fibers are heat-resistant fibers with high tensile strength, used in aerospace and military applications.
The company said that introduction of the ALKEX product and other aramid products opened up opportunities to target manufacturers of bullet resistant items such as helmets and vests.
“(The company has) introduced lighter bullet-resistance technology,” chief of Hyosung’s industrial materials Cho Hyun-sang said.
“The company will continue to provide aramid fibers that are safe and have high functionality.”
According to the company, the ALKEX helmet is 10 percent lighter than previously introduced aramid helmets.
