검찰, 나주 성폭행 사건 범인에 '사형' 구형

검찰이 전남 나주 초등생 성폭행 사건의 범인 고종석(24)에 대해 사형을 구형했다.

검찰은 살인까지 하려고 한 고씨의 죄질과 수사 중에도 피해자의 상처에 무관심하고 다른 사람 이야기하듯 하는 반사회적 행태, 피해자와 그 가족이 겪은 심신의 고통 등을 고려해 사형을 구형했다.

고씨는 지난해 8월 30일 나주 한 상가형 주태갱서 자고 있는 A양을 이불에 싼 채 납치해 인근 다리 밑에서 성폭행하고 목을 졸라 살해하려 한 혐의로 기소됐다. (코리아헤럴드)

(brief) Prosecutors demand death penalty for child rapist

Prosecutors demanded capital punishment Thursday for a man accused of kidnapping and raping a 7-year-old girl in the latest child sex crime to spark public outrage.

The 23-year-old suspect surnamed Ko was arrested for allegedly abducting the victim sleeping at her home in Naju, South Jeolla Province, and raping her under a bridge near her home. The accused is also believed to have attempted to kill the victim by choking her.

The Gwangju District Prosecutors’ Office said that the suspect “not only damaged the victim physically, but emotionally and mentally,” demanding the death penalty to issue a wake-up call to end the “most serious crimes.”

The prosecution also requested the 23-year-old be subject to chemical castration for 15 years and wear an electronic monitoring anklet for 30 years. Gwangju District Court is to hold his trial on Jan. 31.
