Seoul Players will hold its annual Rocky Horror Shadowcast on Oct. 27-28 to celebrate Halloween.

The shadowcast involves playing the movie version of the high-camp horror musical, with a live cast of actors performing the same moves onstage.

“The cast itself is one of the most diverse casts we‘ve had. We have many nationalities, genders and gender identifications, and a lovely mix of both professionals of several performance backgrounds and actors who are just beginning to realize their talents,” said Chris Zaczek, who is producing the show and plays the Criminologist in the shadowcast.

“Also, the show is being choreographed by Sydney Langford, and has the most involved and tightest choreography I’ve ever seen in a shadowcast.”

This year’s performance will be given an additional dash of spice with a stage appearance of burlesque group Starlight Productions, who will preview their upcoming Star Wars-themed show, “The Rule of Two.”

Zaczek said that the group teamed up with Starlight as part of its ambition to provide opportunities to perform and support other stage companies in Seoul.

“We especially feel that the performers of Starlight Productions help to add to the ideals of Rocky: that it is a show that speaks to anyone‘s ability to express their sexual freedom, and that anyone can be a participant in any role,” he said.

Audience members are encouraged to come in costume and get involved with the show. There will be prizes for the best costume.

The shows start 10 p.m. on Oct. 27, and 9 p.m. and midnight on Oct. 28, at Freebird in Hongdae.

Tickets are 10,000 won. No advance bookings are available.
