[THE INVESTOR] On Sept. 22, Pan Pacific (007980) jumped 5 % to 3,570 won (US$3.24). It had increased 16.62% through the past month. Standard deviation, which indicates volatility of stock, records 2.5% on the same period over one month.

Compared with its close competitors within the same industry, KOSPI, the monthly earnings rate of Pan Pacific was the highest and its volatility within one month was considerably higher than that of its peer group. Over the recent month, the return-on-risk, the return on investment with consideration about risk, was 6.6. Though its volatility was the highest among its peer group, an incredible increase of stock price lead to good return-on-risk. Moreover, compared with the KOSPI industry, the return-on-risk is much better than the industrial mean, -0.5, and thus the industrial comparison performance was good.

From Sept. 6, institutions have been continuously selling Pan Pacific during the past nine trading days. As a shareholding sum by investor group for the past four weeks, foreigners have bought 12,403 shares and individuals have bought 1,059,549 shares with an increasing position. However, during the same period, institutions have sold 1,071,952 shares with a selling trend.
