A pet fish which had been only fed with Kit Kat bars is to be put on a diet by London’s Sea Life Aquarium, according to reports.

When Gary, a 40-cm-long giant gourami native to South East Asia, first came to the new aquarium, staffs were puzzled by the fish’s refusal to eat.

It was later revealed that the previous owner had fed Gary with only Kit Kat bars, which is a candy brand produced by Nestle.

Typical giant gouramis are omnivorous, eating different kinds of plant or even live food when in wild.

“I have never heard of a fish being fed chocolate, let alone being brought up entirely on the stuff,” a staff said via the aquarium’s webpage.

Gary is to be diagnosed to eat grapes and banana pieces stuffed with Kit Kat crumbles.

“Gouramis usually eat a diet of fruit but Gary doesn’t appear to have suffered any ill effects from his chocolate addiction. However, we would not recommend feeding fish confectionary of any kind,” the staff added.
