The police warned of heavy traffic congestion in the central and southern parts of Seoul as thousands are expected to take to the street on Saturday in separate rallies.

According to Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, more than 10 conservative civic groups protesting President Moon Jae-in’s administration will be holding several rallies in parts central Seoul. 

With the earliest rally starting at noon in front of Kyobo Building in Gwanghwamun district, more than 15,000 people are expected to crowd the area. The traffic will likely be heavily congested throughout the afternoon as the protesters plan to march following the rallies. The last march is expected to end at 6 p.m.

Around 4 p.m. on Saturday, supporters of ex-Justice Minister Cho Kuk will gather in front of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office in Seocho-gu. The protesters will take up three lanes in front of the building’s west gate, and the police expect around 2,000 to take part in the rally.

The police warned vehicles, including public buses, may have to take a detour around the rally venues on Saturday and advised citizens to use the subway when possible.
