North Korea’s state media said Thursday that its leader Kim Jong-un has returned to Pyongyang after “successfully” completing his landmark summit with US President Donald Trump in Singapore.

Kim and Trump held their first-ever summit meeting on Singapore’s island of Sentosa on Tuesday and signed a joint statement in which they vowed to build “new” relations, and Kim committed to work toward the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

The Korean Central News Agency said Kim was “warmly” greeted by officials from the North’s ruling party and the government who lauded him for ushering in “a new phase of the DPRK-US relations while steering the political situation on the Korean Peninsula with his energetic external activities.” (Yonhap)
