South Korea's ICT ministry said Thursday it plans to hold an open panel discussion on the final day of the ongoing global science summit to reflect on how to best incorporate this week's achievements into future policies.

The Ministry of Science, ICT, and Future Planning said citizens will be invited to the Friday session, which will focus on how to utilize the joint declaration adopted at the closing of a meeting of science policymakers from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development .

The ministry said the discussion is also aimed at reflecting diverse voices in its decision-making process as part of efforts to achieve sustainable and inclusive science policies.

As the culmination of the OECD Ministerial Meeting Daejeon 2015, World Science & Technology Forum underway in Daejeon, participating countries adopted the Daejeon Declaration on Wednesday. The statement offers ways to achieve strong, sustainable and inclusive growth through science and tackle common challenges, such as economic slowdowns, climate change and income gaps among nations.

Around 400 participants, including scientists and government officials are expected to join the final session, according to the ministry.

The event will look back on the scientific achievements of South Korea over the past 70 years since its liberation from Japan's colonial rule, and discuss the remaining challenges in science to set a vision for the next 30 years. (Yonhap)
