INCHEON (Yonhap) – The South Korean women's handball team cruised to the final of the Incheon Asian Games after defeating Kazakhstan 41-30 on Sunday.

South Korean captain Woo Sun-hee scored 10 goals to help her country in the semifinal held at Seonhak Handball Gymnasium in this port city.

Kazakhstan hung tough for the first 15 minutes and the teams were tied at 9-9 early. Then South Korea poured in five unanswered goals to take the lead at 14-9 and finished the first half at 20-16.

Kazakhstan ate into the deficit and made it 21-19 about five minutes into the second half. South Korea countered on the other end and went out in front 24-20. Woo then scored three straight goals to put South Korea up 28-21, as the host maintained the lead for the win.

South Korea will take on Japan in Wednesday's final. Japan on Sunday defeated China 28-25. It will be South Korea's chance to avenge a loss to Japan in the semifinals at the previous Asiad, a defeat that snapped South Korea's gold medal-winning streak at five.

South Korea won the most recent Asian championship in 2012. At the previous Asiad in Guangzhou, though, South Korea fell to Japan in the semis and settled for the bronze medal, as its streak of winning five consecutive Asian Games golds came to an abrupt halt.
