KT, the nation’s second-largest mobile carrier, said on Sunday the company is now able to provide international Long Term Evolution roaming service in Russia. The company now offers this type of service in a total of 12 countries, including Canada and Malaysia.

“The LTE roaming service was expanded as a number of customers are expected to visit Russia for the winter event this year,” said Kim Seok-joon, a head of KT’s Roaming & Data business division. “KT will continue to provide services for users to more conveniently use its roaming services anywhere in the world.”

The company said it partnered with MegaFon, the second-largest cellphone operator in Russia and the official telecom carrier of the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, to enable its customers to use the local LTE network.

KT now provides the most roaming coverage, with unlimited data roaming in 117 countries, LTE roaming in 12 countries and voice roaming in 225 countries.

Last December, the company completed a roaming service demonstration of the first-ever Time Division Duplexing-Frequency Division Duplexing LTE network with Chinese state-owned telecommunication company China Mobile.
