이준익 감독이 상업영화 연출을 고사했으나 2년 만에 메가폰을 다시 잡게 됐다.

이 감독은 영화 ‘소원’을 작업 중이며 설경구와 첫 호흡을 맞출 예정이라고 롯데 엔터테인먼트가 밝혔다.

‘라디오 스타’, ‘왕의 남자’ 등 히트 작품을 낸 이 감독은 2011년 ‘평양성’의 손익분기점을 넘지 못해 은퇴선언을 한 바 있다.

이 감독의 등에서 보여주었던 이준익 감독 특유의 사람을 향한 따뜻한 시선으로 지금 이 순간에도 고통 속에 있는 세상의 모든 범죄의 피해자와 그 가족들을 향한 진정성 있는 위로와 치유의 손길을 건넬 것이다.

이에 복귀작으로 결정한 ‘소원’은 평생 지울 수 없는 상처를 받은 소녀 소원이네 가족이 분노와 증오 속에서 절망의 아픔을 딛고 일어나 삶의 또 다른 문을 열어가는 과정을 그린 드라마로 가슴 먹먹해지는 감성 안에 담을 예정이다. (코리아헤럴드)

Lee Jun-ik returns after two-year hiatus

Filmmaker Lee Jun-ik is making films again, two years after he announced his withdrawal from the local movie industry.

Lee is currently working on a new project titled “Wish,” which stars heavyweight actor Sol Kyung-gu, according to the film’s production company Lotte Entertainment.

Lee, whose notable previous works include “King and the Clown” (2005) and “Radio Star” (2006), announced his withdrawal from the business in 2011, after his period drama “Battlefield Heroes” failed to achieve commercial success.

The upcoming film will be about a young girl who has been victimized by a crime and her family. Sol will be playing the girl’s father.

“I wanted to make a happy movie that begins with a tragedy,” said Lee through Lotte Entertainment. “I want to talk about hope that comes after series of ordeals and hardships.”
