An Australian woman has made her own ‘fins’ to realize her childhood dreams; to become a mermaid and swim with whales.
Hannah Fraser, 36-year-old Australian living in Los Angeles, swims in her mermaid costume with whales, dolphins and even sharks to promote awareness of marine life protection, according to news reports.
She has been featured in children’s books and documentaries to inspire whale conservation.
Fraser said her own experience of witnessing brutal dolphin slaughtering in Japan greatly influenced her.
“It was indescribable to see this (dolphin hunting) happening and have to abandon them. I cried for hours afterwards. It was hard to be part of the human race at that point,” she said.

고래랑 수영하는 미녀 인어 영상 화제
한 미녀 모델이 고래 사냥을 반대하기 위해 인어(?)가 되기로 결심해 화제가 되고 있다.
영국 데일리 메일 보도에 따르면 호주 출신 모델 하나 프레이저(36)는 해양생물의 보존을 촉구하기 위해 스스로 만든 인어복장을 입고 고래, 돌고래, 상어 등과 같이 수영하며 홍보 영상을 찍고 있다고 한다.
그녀의 사진과 영상은 어린이 책과 다큐멘터리 등에 실리고 있다.
프레이저는 몇 년 전 일본에서 돌고래를 잔혹하게 포획하는 모습을 보고 큰 충격을 받았다고 말했다.
“(돌고래 사냥이) 일어나는 것을 보면서도 그대로 방관해야 하는 심정은 차마 말로 표현할 수 없었어요…제가 인간이라는 것 자체도 힘겹게 느껴졌죠”라고 프레이저는 말했다. (코리아헤럴드)
