20,000 await Dooms Day in French village

An estimated 20,000 cult believers made their way to the French village of Bugarach to await aliens they say will come from inside a mountain to rescue them when apocalypse strikes.

\r\nThe ‘pilgrims’ of New Age belief have saturated a commune at the base of the Pic de Bugarach mountain, UPI, CNN, and various sources reported. Several hundreds have even taken residency there.

\r\nAt least thousands more are expected to visit the mountain before Dec. 21 when the group believes the world will come to an end.
\r\n
\r\nThe group believes that on its date for the apocalypse, aliens with come out of the mountain and take with them any nearby humans.
\r\n
\r\n"The apocalypse we believe in is the end of a certain world and the beginning of another," said a man called Jean, who has lived in a wooded area near the forest for several years.
\r\n
\r\n"A new spiritual world. The year 2012 is the end of a cycle of suffering. Bugarach is one of the major chakras [energy centers] of the Earth, a place devoted to welcoming the energies of tomorrow."

\r\nBugarach Mayor Jean-Pierre Delord has alerted national authorities of the situation in fear of a mass suicide.
\r\n
\r\n"We've seen a huge rise in visitors. Already this year more than 20,000 people have climbed right to the top and last year we had 10,000 hikers, which was a significant rise on the previous 12 months. They think Pic de Bugarach is 'un garage a ovnis' [an alien garage]. The villagers are exasperated: the exaggerated importance of something which they see as completely removed from reality is bewildering. After Dec. 21, this will surely return to normal," he said.

\r\n그는 2012년이 오면 고통의 순환고리가 끝날 것이고 부가라크 마을은 지구상에서 가장 큰 샤크라 (에너지의 중심지) 중 하나이며 “내일의 에너지를 맞이하는데 바쳐진 장소”라고 말했다.

\r\n부가라크 시장 장-피에르 델로드는 대량 단체 자살을 우려하며 당국에 이러한 사실을 알렸다.

\r\n그는 올해에만 벌써 작년보다 두 배가 넘는 2만명의 사람들이 산 정상을 밝는 등 방문객들이 급격하게 증가하고 있다면서, 방문객들은 이 산이 “외계인의 차고”라고 믿고 있다고 말했다.
